The procedure typically takes about 1-2 hours, and it's done under local anaesthetic, meaning you'll be awake but won’t feel pain in the area. A small incision is made, and thin wires are guided through a blood vessel to your heart. These wires connect to the pacemaker, which is then implanted just beneath your skin.

After the procedure, you'll stay in the hospital for a short time to make sure the device is working properly. Most people return to their normal activities in a few days, but you’ll need to avoid strenuous activities or lifting heavy objects for a few weeks. The pacemaker helps keep your heart beating steadily, improving symptoms like dizziness or fatigue.
