CORONARY PROCEDURES
Find the Right Treatment for You
The coronary arteries surround the heart and supply blood directly to the muscles that pump the blood throughout the circulation. Keeping the blood flowing is vital.
Coronary Angioplasty
A coronary angioplasty is a medical procedure used to open up blocked or narrowed arteries in the heart. It’s often done when someone has coronary artery disease, which can reduce blood flow to the heart and cause chest pain or even lead to a heart attack.
During the procedure, a doctor inserts a small tube called a catheter into a blood vessel, usually in your arm or leg, and guides it to the heart. A tiny balloon on the tip of the catheter is then inflated at the site of the blockage, which pushes the plaque (fatty deposits) against the artery walls, opening up the artery and improving blood flow. In many cases, a small mesh tube called a stent is also placed in the artery to keep it open permanently.
It’s a common and safe procedure that helps reduce chest pain, improves blood flow, and can prevent heart attacks.

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery is a procedure that improves blood flow to the heart. It is used for people with severe coronary artery disease (blocked or narrowed arteries in the heart).
During the surgery, a surgeon takes a healthy blood vessel from another part of your body (like your leg or chest) and uses it to create a new pathway around the blocked arteries. This "bypass" helps restore normal blood flow to the heart, reducing chest pain (angina) and lowering the risk of a heart attack.
The surgery can help improve your quality of life and make it easier for you to be active again.
